A Week in the Life of Gustavo

After over a year of lonely neglect in Border's "Linguistics" section, H.L. Mencken's The American Language finally has a new home--my bookshelf (or rather, one of my many bookshelves--haven't decided which one yet). Although Mencken is one of the few people I admire, I had hesitated in buying this particular book because of its cost (55 samoleans) and the fact that I thought I would be able to find it in a used book store. I never did. Besides, I needed a picker-upper to help me lift myself out of the hole I've been in. Yes, ladies and gentlemen, Gustavo Arellano is depressed.
